Review/Info.: David Kitt released his much anticipated debut album, 'Small Moments' on the newly resuscitated Rough Trade records on 11th. August, 2000.
Recorded at home over a leisurely period of time, the seven tracks on 'Small Moments' offer the perfect introduction to an Irish talent who is rapidly making an impact both here and in the UK, thanks to his fine grasp of melody, a deft touch to his songwriting and a grasp of arrangement that defies his years.
David is currently in the studio working on his next album which is scheduled to be released by Blanco Y Negro early in 2001.

"A real return to the
sounds of the early days of small moments and The Big Romance, back to
basics intimate sounding recordings from one of Dublin's most talented
singer songwriters, the album has a real bedroom style sound with its
intimate use of electronic beats, pared down live drums and intimate
vocal style, most of the album was recorded at home on his own studio
and it sounds truly excellent, special guests include Lisa Hannigan,
Annie Tierney, Romeo and Michelle from The Magic Numbers and members of
The Redneck Manifesto."

"If last year's Not
Fade Away (Rough Trade) reminded people of how great David Kitt really
is, it also gave a chance to reflect on the long and winding road he's
taken as a songwriter and performer. Never one to take the easy route,
Kittser has experimented and cross pollinated genres and styles over a
bunch of albums (The Big Romance, Square One) and mini albums (Small
Moments, The Black & Red Notebook), escaping potential
pigeon holes and throwing up all sorts of musical surprises along the
way. Having been prolific he has naturally been left with covers, tracks
which didn't make it onto his album releases and tracks which become
more formed and realized later on. So he's had a root through the vaults
and come up with a bunch of gems for Misfits Vol.1, the first in a
series of outtakes and rarities." |
