July 2005
Entertainment.ie
report: "David Kitt has
announced a very special gig in the intimate setting of Whelan's, Dublin
on Sunday July 23rd, to preview tracks from his forthcoming album 'Not
Fade Away', his newest original material since 2004's 'Square One'. With
a new single on the way called 'Don't F*** With Me', one has to wonder
whether 'Kittser' is taking his music in a whole different (scary)
direction. Was that cover of Thin Lizzy's 'Dancing In The Moonlight'
just the tip of the iceberg that is 'David Kitt's Secret Inner Rock
Beast'? Erm, perhaps not. It is a menacing electroreggae-tinged ditty
though, and apparently epitomises Not Fade Away's sound. We can't see it
getting much airplay to be honest, but nonetheless, you can catch a live
version of it nationwide this month - as well as the aforementioned
Whelan's gig on the 23rd, the Rough Trade-signed Kittser plays the
Spirit Store (19th and 30th), Roisin Dubh (with the Redneck Manifesto,
21st), De Barra's (25th), Cyprus Avenue (26th) and Dolan's (27th)."

September 2004 FrictionPR: "David Kitt has announced the release of his long-awaited “covers” album, The Black And Red Notebook, which is penciled in to come out on his own independent label on 15 October.
The album will include versions of songs by (amongst others) JJ Cale, Sonic Youth, Thin Lizzy, The Beatles and The Velvet Underground.
Meanwhile David’s live appearances continue apace with shows coming up right around the country (including Castlebar and Naas this week)."

July 2004 hot press: "Felix Da Housecat, Erol Alkan and David Kitt are among the artists confirmed for the opening week of Waterford's new club and venue, Ten
There’s good news for Waterford music lovers with the opening this week of Ten.
Occupying the same John Street site as the former Pulpit bar and Preachers nightclub, July 30’s official launch party features the combined DJ talents of Cyril Briscoe, Arveene, Ray Colclough and Gavin Boyce.
The first of their monthly Resistance dance parties takes place on August 13 with Felix Da Housecat sharing dancefloor duties with Erol Alkan and Niall Power.
As you’d expect from a gaff that’s managed by former Mean Fiddler lynchpin Mick O’Keefe, there’s plenty of live music with The Wailers (August 12) and David Kitt, Alphastates and Donal Dineen (20) among the first batch of visitors.
Talking of Kittser, we understand that work on his covers album is gathering apace with an autumn release date likely."

August 2003 davidkitt.com: "Recorded variously in Dublin, Westmeath, the Loire Valley, London and New Orleans and titled, Square 1, the new David Kitt album will be released in Ireland on Sept 5th. David had planned a double-vinyl version of the album but vinyl sales and record company economics have scuppered that idea. A single vinyl version will now instead be released.
David again produced the record but this time was ably assisted by Jimmy Eadie - who looks after David's front-of-house sound at his live performances - and Karl Odlum who's brother David helped mix it. Greg Calbi and David mastered the record in New York's famed Sterling Sounds.
A series of Irish and UK dates have been booked to mark the album's release. David will be backed by a five-piece (at least) band on all of these shows. I Am Kloot will be special guests on the Irish gigs, whilst Jape will also play on the bill.
Meanwhile David plays the Lisdoonvarna festival at the RDS on 30th August and anyone who saw him at Witnness will testify that it is an opportunity that shouldn't be spurned."

Demember 23 2002 "It does not seem so long ago that David Kitt stood before us alone, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar and a mini-disc of beats, which he charmingly fumbled over, pressing the wrong buttons, sending out random squiggles of rhythm to his amused but enthused audiences. So much has changed since those tentative performances, the release of his soft-focus Small Moments debut on the Rough Trade label and the expansion of his live band."
