Ceol '08Mar.2008 - Dirty Epics release 'The Cure' from the album "Straight In No Kissing" (Mar.7). Ceol '08 is released to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge from March 3-17. Fight Like Apes head to SXSW representing MusicFromIreland. The "Once" soundtrack has gone gold in the US selling 500,000 copies. Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová have recorded a new song called 'One More Word' for the film "Strangers". 'Out Of Our Hands' has a release date of May 5 for Gemma Hayes from her 3rd album. The Coronas are to headline the RTE 2FM 2Moro tour. Four major record labels sue Irish ISP Eircom. Watch the documentary "Decade Of Dance: An Irish Fairytale" from 1999. State arrives and BrandNewSounds.ie! Mainline are now known as The Brothers Movement. And REM are now officially Irish!

The Swell Season win Academy AwardFeb.2008 - Glen Hansard has been nominated in the Best Irish Male category for the Meteor Awards in February. "Once" receives two Grammy nominations - "Best Compilation Soundtrack Album" and "Best Song Written For Motion Picture". Hansard and Irglová will perform "Falling Slowly", their signature duet from the film, which is nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category.

Update: "Once" wins an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Congratulations to John Carney & Swell Season's Glen and Markéta! The album has sold 363,000 copies since it debuted on May 22 2007, making it the tenth best-selling soundtrack of 2007. It's currently #1 on both Amazon and iTunes.
