SWEET JANE formed in Dublin last Autumn as a side-project involving
members from Dublin's MAINLINE and Cherrybombs DJ Lydia Des Dolles.
Their material cannot be purchased as yet, but a few tracks are
available to download from their myspace page, which is one well worth
the visit.
As a side-project which started out
mainly as a bit of fun, they are currently not interested in selling any
of the Sweet Jane material, though given all the positive feedback they
are receiving at present, one would expect this to change. Meanwhile
they are happily distributing EPs of their music free to those
interested]

December 15 2004 Hot Press: Mainline to release single in January
Hot on the heels of their recent Ian Brown supports, psychedelic Dubliners Mainline make their recorded debut in January on Loog Records.
Run by former NME scribe James Oldum, the Polydor subsidiary has been delighted with the plays their double-A-sided 'Black Honey'/'Once More' single has been receiving on UK radio.
Among their most ardent supporters is BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris who, after giving 'Once More' its first spin, enthused: "From Dublin a really excellent dark and brooding band called Mainline. Of all the bands I've heard in the last few months these stand out the most. It's a really dynamic record – they sound terrific and I'm going to play this a lot."
At the moment it's only a one-off single deal, but with praise like that you can't imagine Loog wanting to let them go.
You can check Mainline out live on New Year's Eve when a DJ-ing David Holmes joins them for Auld Lang Syne duties in the Temple Bar Music Centre.

December 15 2004 angloplugging.com: "BLACK HONEY / ONCE MORE"
Dublin’s Mainline, release their debut single, Black Honey / Once More on Limited Edition 7” through Loog Records on Monday 31st January 2005.
Bobby Gillespie is a big fan of the band and they have been invited to play with The Bravery, as part of their London residency at London’s Metro, on 25th November. They also play the following shows in November and December:
November Thu 25th London Metro (with The Bravery) Fri 26th London Barfly Sat 27th Dublin Whelan's
December Wed 8th Dublin, Olympia Theatre Thu 9th Dublin, Olympia Theatre Sat 11th Derry, Nerve Centre Sun 12th Belfast, Ulster hall Tue 14th Carlow, The Foundry (DJ set) Wed 15th Limerick, Dolan's Warehouse Thu 16th Waterford, Ten
In their hometown of Dublin, they’re a cause celebre, a dark call to arms championed by public and press alike. Their gigs – a euphoric rush of lights, melody and white noise – are legendary, and have already seen them support such kindred spirits as Primal Scream and Death In Vegas. Before the end of the year, they’re due to head out on tour with Ian Brown.
It hasn’t always been so easy for them. Formed three years ago by a core of three brothers: Neil Paxton – voice/guitar, Daniel – drums and Conor – bass. They initially discovered that the way they look (like friends of Andy Warhols circa 1966) and the way they sound (a sweet mesh of Velvets, Spacemen 3 and Mary Chain riffs) didn’t sit too well with their hometown scene.
Press release posted on 29/11/04

September 28 2004 Hot Press: Mainline to join 22-20's in Dublin and Belfast
Just confirmed to play support for the 22-20's, Mainline are enjoying some major label attention. Plus: Derry band Red Organ Serpent Sound sign to Universal.
Mainline continue to win friends and influence A&R people when they open for 22-20's at the Hub, Dublin (October 29) and The Limelight, Belfast (30).
Formed in early 2001, the band comprises Mr. & Mrs. Paxton's boys Neil, Conor and Daniel, Scott Glennon, Patrick McHugh and Jeff McDonald.
Having spent the last couple of month's in Grouse Lodge Studios with U2 and Elvis Costello man Leo Pearson, it's no surprise that their hypnotic Spiritualized meet The Velvet Undergound grooves have been the subject of much major label scrutiny.
"Sony, Polydor, BMG and EMI have all had a look at them recently, and there have been a few publishing companies over too so there's plenty of interest," a Dublin-based A&R source tells hotpress.com "I'd be very surprised if, come the end of the year, they're not a signed band."
Definitely signing on the dotted line this are psychedelic Derry combo Red Organ Serpent Sound who've pledged their future to Universal imprint Vertigo. Which is bad news for 679 and Rough Trade who'd also tried to snap up the northerners.
"What attracted us to Vertigo," reveals manager Nick Davis, "is that they've a small, enthusiastic team who've already broken Razorlight this year and look like doing the same with Thirteen Senses and the band they signed prior to us, The Black Velvets."
Currently working on demos in their hometown Blast Furnace Studios, the band plan to release their debut single in January or February 2005 with an album following in the spring.
"The songs are all written and arranged," Davis continues, "so once we decide on a producer it should be all pretty straightforward. We've also got a few gigs lined up, which is going to make for a busy few months." These include visits to the Nerve Centre, Derry (October 21) and the Town & Country Club, Magherafelt (November 26).
