Waiting Room is Wayne, Dave, Nigel and Rory. They have been making music together since 2001 culminating in the release of their critically acclaimed debut album proper 'catering for headphones' in February 2004 on Irish independent label Out On A Limb records.

They spent a substantial part of the year touring, the highlights of which were a successful appearance at the 'Oxegen' festival, a week of gigs in London and a month of shows on the east coast of America. In a poll conducted by Hot Press magazine in November 2004 for the 100 greatest Irish albums, 'Catering For Headphones' came in at number 70. The band became part of the exclusive Road Relish singles club in December 2004, with the release of a split 7" with Limerick's giveamanakick.

Early 2005 saw Waiting Room nominated for Best New Irish Band at the Meteor awards. They are currently recording material for their second album, which is due out in early 2006, with a single and a tour due in October 2005.

Hailing from Cork, Waiting Room deliver a unique sound that comfortably slides and cuts through genres with an infectiously catchy laid back air. Intricate guitar playing and soft affecting vocals are perfectly complimented by a tight, meandering rhythm section and sweet teasing cello lines. Waiting Room have just finished recording a follow up to their 2001 debut 'Losing Patience', which was very much a mellow indie pop record.

The last year or so has seen Waiting Room embrace the like of Fugazi and Mogwai to showcase the full scope of their talents. 'Part post-rock, part indie-rock, part pop sensibilities', the new record is much more diverse and adventurous affair, moving from abrasive post-rock instrumentals to soft melodic rock, and with their inclusion on the 'Foggy Notions' Compilation, the next year could prove to be a very interesting time for this young band."
